These days many people suffer from Acidity. Some of the food we consume can cause acidity.  People who suffer from acidity can control the symptoms, if they are willing to make changes their diet. Diets play an important role in the secretions of acid in our stomach. Acid which is secreted in the stomach helps in digesting the food that a person consumes. So, the first step is to keep the acid secretion normal it is done by not skipping meals and having three meals a day.  Foods that result in excess acid secretion should be avoided like fatty foods, sweets, spices, fast food etc. Excessive acid secretion is also known as Indigestion. It's better to eat foods which are rich in Carbohydrate content, as it's easy to digest such foods and foods that are easy to digest don't need excess acid secretion.

It's not good to eat more than you normally eat, as this causes excess acid secretion. Consume milk and other foods that are rich in protein content in morning or in lunch. One should consult your physician before starting any medication for indigestion. Some changes in ones habit and diet can also help to overcome the acidity problem.

  1. Avoid consuming fatty foods, spicy foods, carbonated drinks, alcohol these food increase stomach acid production. One should stick to a diet of fresh juice, vegetables and lean meats, low-fat dairy and whole grains.

  2. Doctors suggest one should eat slowly as it helps in digesting food easily. If one eats too fast then stomach produces excessive acid food digestion, leading to uncomfortable digestion.

  3. Drink a cup of herbal peppermint tea, peppermint tea provides relief to heart burns and other indigestion symptoms by calming the acid in stomach that cause irritation in stomach.

  4. Eat smaller meals rather than few and bigger meals. Smaller meals are easy to digest preventing the overproduction of acid in stomach.

  • Fruits: Some fruits like orange, lemon, tomato etc are acidic in nature and should be avoided if suffering from acidity.

  • Vegetables: Vegetables like Onion (raw) etc.

  • Meat: Some types of meat should be avoided these are Ground Beef, Marbled sirloin, Chicken Nuggets, Buffalo wings.

  • Beverages: Some beverages should also be avoided like Liquor, Wine, Coffee, and Tea.

  • Fats/ Oils: Fats/ Oils should be avoided if you are suffering from acidity.

Different Remedies for Acidity

  • Curd: Curd is very useful recovery agent for treating any burning sensation in the stomach. Curd keeps the stomach cool and relieves from acidity. Just mix two spoons of curd in a glass add cold water, salt to taste and pinch of crushed roasted cumin seeds.

  • Exercise: Morning and evening walks are good for health and keeps the acidity in control.

  • Cold Milk: During acidity doctors advice to drink cold milk as it gives relief during acidity.

  • Mint Leaves: Mint leaves are the best remedy to cool our body so it is advisable to consume mint juice when suffering from acidity.

  • Coconut Water: Coconut water is best to consume if suffering from acidity. It keeps our body hydrated and stomach cool.

  • Banana: Bananas are one of the effective fruits that treat acidity. Some acidity leads to lose motions and these can be cured by banana.
